Welcome to Thorold, Where Ships Climb the Mountain. Walk, bike or drive the scenic Welland Canal Parkway and watch the quiet giants of the waterway climb the steps of the Twin Flight Locks. Just up the road is the summit of the canal system, Lock 7, the highest and last lift up the escarpment.

Don't forget to visit the Kissing Rock and discover the legend of Charlie Snelgrove, a good looking, charming engineer on the ships of the Great Lakes. Charlie's tradition lives on for anyone hoping for everlasting luck and happiness in your relationship - simply meet and kiss at the Kissing Rock.

Thorold is rich in heritage homes, the site of the Battle of Beaverdams and home of the DeCew House, the destination of Laura Secord's quest to inform the British Army of the impending American invasion. . Embrace the warmth of this historical Canal City.
