Schomberg is a rural farming community located north of the Oak Ridge Moraine and south of the Holland River. Originally settled as Brownsville, the area is rich in fertile farmland and dense pine forests. The annual Schomberg Fair, first held in 1851 is held every year on the last weekend in May. A recent annual tradition is Main Street Christmas, held one evening in December, it features Christmas caroling, hay rides and ice sculptures.
