Milton is nestled by the majestic Niagara Escarpment on one side and breathtaking scenery on the other. In 1806, with the purchase of a tract of land from the Mississauga Indians construction began on the York Road. This road was to encourage settlers to venture into the forests past Toronto. Today Hwy. 5 follows the route of the Old York Road. Originally called Martins Mills, Milton was the first village established in this new frontier. Today the town of Milton is a vibrant and thriving community. The Halton Region Museum is in the Kelso Conservation Area. Located at the edge of the escarpment the museum is on the site of the former Alexander homestead. Exhibits depict Halton’s history.

Wonderful hiking trails and parkland await visitors to Milton. The Bruce Trail is close at hand and is a popular recreational activity.
