Southampton is a charming resort town on the shores of Lake Huron at the mouth of the Saugeen River with 4 miles of sandy beaches. A mile offshore is Chantry Island, a bird sanctuary and home to one of the area’s many restored lighthouses. Over 50 known shipwrecks surround Chantry Island and its tower, a testament to the rocky shoals and deadly storms that make this area one of the most treacherous in the Great Lakes.
