Clarksburg, Ontario

Clarksburg Ontario is now part of the new municipality of The Blue Mountains. The first settlers to the area were the Marsh family. William Marsh built a home in Clarksburg in 1850 and the main street was named in his honour. The village was named after William Clark, also an early resident, who operated a woolen mill. Around the turn of the 20 th century a bicycle rim factory was located in Clarksburg, shipping their goods across Canada and overseas. The Clendenan Dam Conservation Area is located in the area and features a reservoir and two dams on the Beaver River.
