Butterflies float over the vineyards of Pelee Island. Tall ships glide into Sarnia on their way to Lake St. Clair. Fisherman cast for largemouth bass in Lake Erie, just off the southern shores of Chatham-Kent. The "Underground Railroad" or "Freedom Trail" brought the first permanent settlements of fugitive African slaves, from the United States to this area starting in the 1820's.

Whether strolling along Windsor's riverfront or being thrilled by the flashing slot machines at Casino Windsor, the southernmost point of Canada has much to offer. Explore the history of Canadian oil fields near Petrolia, or catch the ferry to Pelee Island for a refreshing bike tour. Hugging the St. Clair River and Lake Huron north to Grand Bend, Sarnia-Lambton offers unparalleled waterfront access with beaches, marinas, and 25 roadside parks. Take a gamble at Sarnia or Point Edward gaming facilities, experience waterfront concerts and festivals in Grand Bend. Soak up nature by spending a day searching for fossils, or watching migrations of birds and butterflies from one of Southern Ontario’s numerous Provincial Parks.
